The game is played when everyone is inside of a car, and the motor is running. When a person sees a VW bug he/she yells out punchbug, the color of the bug, and punches the person of their choice. That person does the same thing for each person in the car unless the other person beats them to it and punches them first. 2. You have to see the VW bug in order to claim it. 3. You have to say Punch Bug color! No punches back! 4. The car must be on in order to count the punch bug. 5. The game starts over whenever the car is started. 6. If a person says Bug spray, you are not allowed to punch them. 7. A person may not call bug spray if they are in either the drivers seat or the passengers seat. 8. People in the back seats may not hit the driver unless the driver says its okay. 9. You cannot call punch bug if someone has already claimed it and said No punch back. 10. Convertible punch bugs are worth double the hits. 11. In certain cases, bugs may be pronounced dead. That is if a VW bug is in the same spot all the time and NEVER moved. In such cases, everyone in the car must agree to pronounce it dead. 12. A person must claim bug spray at the beginning of each new game. They may not call it immediately after participating. 13. Once you have participated in the game once, you must stay in the game until it ends and a new game is started. 14. Quadriplegics and people with amputated arms and legs have automatic bug spray. 15. Blind people, including colorblind people, do not automatically get bug spray. 16. People under the age of 6 may not participate without parental consent. 17. No other versions of the game are accepted. 18. VW bugs from all years are acceptable. 19. Special cases may be decided upon at the appropriate time with a majority vote. 20. People who have been asleep for at least 10 minutes are exempt from the game. 21. If a person calls punch bug and violates any of the above rules, the receiver of the hits gets to punch that person back double the amount of hits. 22. Ignorance of the rules is no excuse.
